Scottsdale is one of America's great golf destinations — desert fairways, mountain backdrops and dozens of standout courses. Here's how to plan a trip that plays as good as it looks.
When to go
Peak season runs roughly November through April, when daytime temperatures are comfortable and the courses are in prime shape. That's also when rates are highest and tee times book up fast, so plan a few months ahead. Late spring and early fall offer shoulder-season value if you don't mind warmer afternoons — early tee times are your friend.
Courses worth the round
TPC Scottsdale — Stadium Course
Home of the WM Phoenix Open and its famous 16th hole. It's a bucket-list stadium course that plays big and looks even bigger.
Troon North — Pinnacle
Classic high-desert target golf with dramatic elevation and not a house in sight — one of the most photographed layouts in Arizona.
On-property options
Staying at a resort with its own course — like Boulders South at Boulders Resort & Spa — means one round with zero transfer, which is a nice way to bookend a trip.
How to plan a buddy trip that runs itself
- Lock tee times early — the marquee courses sell out in peak season
- Book lodging central to your courses to cut drive time
- Arrange airport and daily course transfers so no one's the designated driver
- Sell it by the foursome and let one organizer handle payment and logistics
- Build in one "off" evening — Scottsdale's dining and nightlife are part of the trip
The best golf trips are the ones where the only decision left is what to hit off the first tee.
A done-for-you option
Our Golf Trips division designs getaways where tee times, lodging and transfers are all handled. Our featured Boulders Golf Getaway pairs three nights at Boulders Resort & Spa with rounds at Troon North, TPC Scottsdale and Boulders South — airport and course transfers included, sold by the foursome.
